Ingredients

  • Essential for structure; I sift mine for an extra-light crumb.
  • It’s the secret behind a perfectly risen sheet cake—always double-check freshness.
  • Just a pinch balances sweetness and intensifies the vanilla aroma.
  • Room temperature ensures it creams beautifully into tender cake and silky frosting.
  • Offers sweetness and helps achieve a golden-brown finish.
  • Bring richness and help hold the cake together; I crack them into a separate bowl to avoid shell mishaps.
  • Gave the batter a nostalgic warmth; use good quality for full flavor.
  • Creates moisture and softness; warming it up ever-so-slightly helps ingredients combine smoothly.
  • Sifting eliminates lumps for the smoothest buttercream.
  • School colors always feel celebratory—gel types keep the frosting thick enough for piping.
  • Adds playful sparkle; always optional but highly encouraged.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

Phase 03

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.

Phase 04

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
